Bought this today needs some TLC, way out of my comfort zone here. The canes are set on a cushion similar to Whitefriars but there the similarity ends.
A google search brings up names like Richardson, Arculus and Bacchus any thoughts and if so is it worth getting it re-polished it's looking a little jaded. Just shy of 3.5" diameter.
Thanks for looking.
Chris.

Hi.
The shape is very much like the low domed Arculus weights, and the bubbles all over suggest Arculus too! So I am fairly sure it is an Arculus / Walsh Walsh item (Walsh Walsh took over the Arculus factory in 1930, and kept on making the same kind of things). It probably started life as a paperweight, but another possibility is that it is a very cut down base of a bottle - they tend to turn up fairly regularly.

Thanks Alan.
Considering it's probably early 20th Century would it be worth getting it re-polished.

Hi Chris.
If it improves the display appearance for you, then probably it is worth doing. If it is to help you sell it, then it would depend how much you paid! If you want to discuss the financial aspects of it I suggest you send me a PM.
