Title: WMF Ikora - new additions
Post by: flying free on May 17, 2013, 12:09:50 PM
The two at the front are the newer additions to my small collection of 5 pieces :)

The one on the left is 66/1694 produced 1928 and shown on page 133.  Gorgeous colours, amethyst with lots of silver chlorides and nitrate crackles, the chloride done in stripes around the vase.

The one on the right weighs 5lb or 2.2 kg.  It's a mammoth piece about 17cm high by 18cm wide and thick glass.
It matches the shape and size of number EO696 produced 1937/38. Fabulous shape.  I've been after this  for a while so I'm very happy. Now I just need to find a blue piece :)

enjoy :)

Love the two in the front row -- the amethyst one is beautiful, and the "elephant foot" vase much nicer coloured than others I have seen.

You will like my new addition: from the 1928 catalogue as well, PN 91/1801, blue :D
It has a chip to the foot, but still a perfect display piece...

Thanks Gary and Michael :)
Michael the blue pieces seem to be very expensive  ::)
That's very pretty!  how tall is it?

I think all of them (including Michael's) are beautiful. Thank you for showing them.

Thank you m and Anik, and sorry for hijacking 8)

My vase is 18 cm tall.
And you are right, blue pieces (even the more common shapes) seem to be more sought after than others.
Mine is from a local fleamarket, and cost 5,- Euro, so I can live happily with the damage; the annoying thing is that the seller asked 15,- Euro before I hinted at the chip -- that would have been a great bargain...

Really like the green plate/bowl m
If I had bought it I would now be searching Scottish glass trying to find it :)

ooh Michael - you were lucky on the vase!  and it's a good height as well.  I must keep an eye out.
Anik, Chris, thanks :)
Chris, the plate is lit from the front in those photos but I light it from behind as well normally as the whole piece has crizzling in it - it also has the amethyst in the middle.
I've put a close up pic on

Love each and every one of them.  Michael was fortunate to find a single piece, but to add significantly to a collection at the same time is really impressive.

Well done both of you.

Nice pieces, both of you.

You´re almost right with mammoth, m, the shape´s often referred to as elephant´s foot.  ;D

Dirk, David, thank you:)
Unfortunately none of mine were in that price range ::) which means my collection is very slow growing  ;D  I just don't bump into WMF pieces here so they've all been bought online.

Dirk, I'd heard of that description and I've seen one other piece like this (darker colours and smaller) but that's it.  They seem to be quite difficult to find especially the large version.  I love the yellow/green base colour of this one.

I don't hold out much hope of finding a blue with other colours on in a price that's affordable  ;D
