Title: Loetz vase-Loetz pansu?(bellied) can anyone confirm this is a Loetz vase please?
Post by: flying free on May 23, 2013, 12:24:07 AM
I've come across this vase and my friend has one that is definitely the same maker.
Can anyone confirm this is a Loetz vase please?  Apparently translated 'pansu' as in their listing means 'bellied'
If not, does anyone know who might have made this vase please?

It's difficult to tell from photos, but it appears to be the same body shape at the bottom as the one here, no 198, in this catalogue page 24

Hi M,

Although the shape has some similarities, that is as far toward Loetz as I would go with the piece.

I do not believe for a second that the piece in that auction is Loetz.... Not sure at all who, but not Loetz. Also, it would not surprise me at all to find out it is contemporary production. The decor itself is a little "clumsy".  It could just be images, but the glass of the handles appears to be pale green and not really clear. Additionally, the application of the handle on the left is quite clumsy at the bottom.  Any single one of these would not mean much, but as a whole to me they speak volumes to it not being Loetz, and possibly not old....

Hope this helps.

Craig

Thanks Craig :)   I appreciate it.

Maybe with two pieces we will one day find the source of these - good job she didn't pay 800 Euros plus for it  ;D ... that vase sold! :o
