Title: Unknown Glass vase / jug / decanter ?
Post by: teejay5324 on May 26, 2013, 04:23:46 PM
Hello everyone, I would appreciate assistance in identifying this item. I am new to the forum, I normally like to contribute before asking for help, but I'm afraid I don't have much to offer. This was an attic find. It is roughly 8"(20 cm) diameter (wide), 10"(25 cm) tall, with a 1 1/4" id 1 1/2" od(3.2/3.8 cm) opening. I can't get an accurate weight, but it is over 3 lb (~1.5 Kg), thick glass and heavy. There are no markings on the bottom, just a blob as seen in the images. Thank you all in advance.

Hi and welcome to the gmb! :)
This looks very much like Blenko to my very inexperienced eye. Not my area, I'm afraid, but I'm sure somebody else who does know a lot more than I do will be along soon. Hang in there!

Sue, I think you may be onto something. It sure does seem to fit the Blenko style. Next would be to approximate value. Thanks.

I'm afraid we don't discuss values here, teejay - they're far too subjective.
To get an idea, your best bet would be to to find something similar on an internet auction site and watch to see what it goes for.
I too would suspect you might be missing a stopper.  :'(

I would class this as amberina. I have had similar. In fact I have a vase that also has mica flakes ID'd as Murano, but I'm not saying yours is. Are those tiny frothy bubbles I see on the base shot teejay
