Hi,
a nice new addition. The colour scheme resembles this one:
http://www.artofglass.me.uk/borske-sklo-flash-cut-glass-vase-by-karel-wnsch-1806-p.asp
Would you think this is a Wünsch also?
It´s ca 26cm tall.
Finish of the top rim and base is exceptional.
TIA
Dirk

Very nice!
I guess you might have checked anyway, but in CGR 1964/6, 1971/2 and 1971/9 you can see a variety of the Wünsch cut vases.
Just a thought: is the one from artofglass a confirmed Wünsch piece? (The colours seem a little soft, almost like >> this yet unidentified vase of mine (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,43704.0.html))
edit to add: my (confirmed) Wünsch vase has a flat base...

Thank you, Michael.
Yep, I checked the CGR 1964 and thought this vase might be a colour match. The decanter shown there
also has some similar features like the tiny vertical cuts. But - no match unfortunately.
Can´t tell whether the one in the link is a confirmed design or not, but thought the page looked reliable. :)

I would think that artofglass' site is very reliable, but it is always better to check twice :)
It would be good to know if the flat base is a distinguishing feature...

The colours on Dirk's vase seem to be the same as or similar to a cut glass bowl in Mark Hill's HI Sklo Lo Sklo book, page 20. It has circles and ovals and vertical stripes on it and is id'd as 'A 1960's Borske Sklo amber cased yellow cut bowl, from the Dual range and possibly designed by Karel Wunch'.

Thank you both. :)
Anyone ever seen this kind of base treatment on a czech vase? Good point, Michael. :D

I wondered about Moser, but wouldn't it have been signed in some way?

Just my humble experience with Czech glass: flat bases are the standard. But there are excepctions: my Kamenicky Senov vases, the small cut jardiniere from UUR, and some (but not all) Pavel Hlava and Oldrich Lipsky Exbor vases come with a perfectly circular indentation to the base. My Dual vase has a flat base.
So not much help ;D
I checked Hi Sklo Lo Sklo for the pic m referred to, and the colours seem the same as (or at least very similar to) Dirk's vase.
Not an easy one...

ah, then I didn't like to say anything because I know nothing about this kind of glass, but on page 33 of the Sypka Part II ct,the colours of your vase remind me of the Oldrich Lipsky vase for Novy Bor on the top right. The shape and design is not the same and that vase has other colours but it's one that jumped out at me last night for the orange and yellow.
Also just another observation, probably completely wrong but just brainstorming, on page 53 of Hi Sklo Lo Sklo there is a Hana Machovska Mstisov Romana vase that includes what seems to be the same orange and amber shades. Were the Mstisov vases something to do with Moser?
btw there is a vase on page 12 by Josef Kaplicky that reminded me also of ArtofGlass's vase - do you think?

m, the Kaplicky vase has a gilded decoration, but the idea seems to be the same...
I have the feeling (but totally brainstorming here, too ;) ) that colours in Czechoslovakian glass were often the same across several factories -- for instance I was really sure that the colours in >> my Zemek candleholder (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,52497.0.html) were typical 1950s Skrdlovice. I was wrong.

m & M, many thanks for your efforts - much appreciated! Possibly we´re reaching a point where we´d
actually need some access to pattern books or similar... :-\
