Title: Anyone know who this V.......ac signature belongs to?
Post by: tshandy on June 11, 2013, 08:14:07 AM
Hi,
I've seen variations on this signature a few times now, on light shades and vases big and small, but always on art nouveau style acid engraved pieces.
But I can't find any trace of this (I'm assuming French) maker. Anyone in the know please?
Thanks in advance...

Yes it is, it is!! I've just stumbled on the link - has to be.
I should have been bit more patient with my digging. Thanks for your help!

pretty please can we have an image of the whole piece?
This would mean we have a good record of the signature in conjunction with the work for reference here - which is, after all, the whole point of the board.  :)

Coming up.
I feel like the daft woodcutter in the Russian folk tale, used up all my wishes in one go - and I've got so many other questions I want to ask!
(At least I don't have to live with a sausage on my nose, though...)

Thank YOU!
I do I'm going to take you at your word, as I have a mystery vase that I love and would like very much to put the mystery to bed if I'm not clogging up the board too much.

"Clogging" is posting 10 or so queries all at once - which means the first page of enquiries on the board is taken up by mostly one poster - and everybody else's disappear onto the next page and sadly tend to get ignored, because folk assume by the time things are on page 2, they have been dealt with..
You can post up to 3 different pieces on one day without clogging too much.

Questions are the root of how we all learn. :)

And we *love* seeing other people's glass, so please do ask your questions. It might take us a while to answer some of them, but we never give up trying! :)

I think Vianne closed a few years ago.they used to ship lots of containers of lighting fixture glass to the US for many years. A couple of my friends used to be their representatives here in the US.

Interesting, I did notice there seemed to be a US connection.
As far as I can tell - without actually picking up the phone and doing some proper research! - they closed definitively in 2005, after some years of struggling. There have been unsuccessful attempts to get the glass works going again. It certainly won't be happening in 2012, that's for sure.
I have a lamp in similar style which is unsigned and I have always thought it likely to be by the same maker. I'll put a pic up shortly for those who are interested.
Thanks to all.

Big operation then.
Here's a pic of my 40-odd-year-old Vianne-type lamp....
