Title: Green Opaline Pressed Glass Swan Toothpick holder
Post by: josordoni on June 22, 2013, 12:01:47 PM
I am trying to work out who made this little piece, there is a V in a circle that I thought might be Vallerysthal, but I can't see anywhere that they used this mark. Any ideas please?

Hi Lynne, I can't help with ID, but I had a similar piece a few years ago marked "VS" (backwards).   Maybe they are related...

Thanks Wayne, that SV is in Pamela's PressGlas Pavilion hallmarks page for Schmidt Verriers , I was wondering about them, as they made some little pieces in pairs that had S on one and V on the other. The green of yours looks similar, so I think that could possibly be right.

It's a modern piece. The trademark is for Summit Art Glass (est. 1972 but no longer in existence) in the USA. The V is for Russ Vogelsong who was the owner. (This piece was also made previously by St. Clair). You can see it in my book "A Century of Carnival Glass".

thanks so much Glen! Yes, found it on page 230. I really should remember that so many things came in iridised as well as plain finishes, I always forget to check your books when I am searching.
