Any ideas on the maker and origin of this beautiful butter dish. It glows under UV light. I have a feeling that it maybe Sowerby but tbh. I would only be guessing. Height 13.4cm and Length 19.9cm. The base rim also tells me it might possibly be Sklo Union, but I am unable to find any information during my searches. Any help appreciated. :)

Hi Otis, Looking at the base my first guess would be Sowerby. The base on yours looks almost exactly the same as the one seen on the Sowerby Rosalin butter dish.

Did you search the board, as a quick search reveals the answer http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,37795
PS Greg Rosalin is the pink colour, you mean the swan butter dish

Tbh Christine, I never gave it a thought. :-[, probably because I was uncertain at the time that it was Sowerby ::). I must say though, thank you for the link.
Thanks for the link Pamela and you too Greg. I was unaware that there were different designs. The butter dishes are fab.
Is this Vaseline dish rare, I wonder ::). I only found one on Google, that was identical to mine, but was unable to follow this through via. the link for some reason.

Connotations springs to mind ::). Obviously yours provided results! If you see from my heading and initial information, I did not search via. "butterfly butter dish". I was unaware it was a butterfly dish or a "butter dish". In fact I did look under trinkets also. I was not even sure, that the lid was part of the bowl as they are in two different styles. I suppose I should have also incorporated that into my initial enquiry. So again, I really do thank you for the link. Your always there when needed. ;D
