Title: New User Needs Assistance with Identifying Signature. ID = Correia
Post by: Bill Vitez on June 25, 2013, 04:10:10 PM
Thank you crisscooper and chopin-liszt! This is definitely the signature. Next time I will definitely post with a picture of the entire piece.

I have 2 excellently executed contemporary paperweights bought a estate sales. They both seem to have the same artist's signature so I've attached the one that is more clear. I've tried to decipher numerous permutations of letters and names to no avail.
Please assist in my identification of the artist. I have other 20th century contemporary art glass pieces (mostly paperweights and vases) with hard to decipher signatures but promise only to inquire regarding those which are of superior design and well executed (employing advanced and/or difficult techniques).
Thank You for your assistance!

:) Hi and welcome to the board!
Thanks for such a good clear image and posted directly to the board too - wonderful!
However, it would help greatly if you would be kind enough to show an image of the whole weight too.
I suspect Correia might be the name on this weight?

Well done, chriscooper - you've found a link with an image of the maker's mark and it does look the same.
(I'm stunned  8) I managed to get an American pwt identified - not my area at all!)

You are welcome too ask about whatever you like. All we ask is no more then 3 enquiries a day so as not the flood the board, a good selection of pictures including a straight-on side shot of the whole item and a base shot (even if unmarked), and a description that includes dimensions.

hello Bill....I would bet the mortgage that this is correia. Probably made by someone other than Steven Correia at Their glass-works in Santa Monica Calif. I have about 7 of their works. Can someone help me with trying to add an attachment and send an id on this forum? Thanks Rudy
