Title: Czech vases?
Post by: WhatHo! on June 27, 2013, 04:52:02 PM
Hi, i have had this blue vase for a while and a friend has found a second one in different colours, likely made by the same hand.
Mine is blue with a purple/pink sommerso effect with a pulled top.
The base has 5 lobes and has flat polished base.
It is a substantial piece of glassware, 12.5" tall, 4.5" wide and weighs 2kg.

Im sure sure the exact size and weight of 2nd vase but purple/pink with green in the base.

If someone could give a positive identity to these that would be fantastic, TIA cheers Wolfie

I'm pretty clueless about Czech, but I think you're probably correct in starting with this area. They do look very Czech to me.

Possibly Skrdlovice glassworks, designed by Jan Beránek

Nice pieces. Companies like Libera and Mikasa may produce similar wares. Another similar modern Czech or Polish company is also making vases very similar to historic ZBS vases.

Does anyone have other known Czech pieces with the same colouration as these two? either from ZBS or Skrdlovice. Skrdlovice did do this 'sommerso' type of colouring but I think Robert would know about them if they were.
