I can't place this large (35cm) turquoise apothecary jar. It has quite an individual hole in the stem. (Please correct me if I get any of the terminology wrong).
Please let me know if you can help.
Yours sincerely,
Ian

Ian, I don't believe Blenko did that color combined with crystal (clear). If I were to guess I'd say Empoli, maybe Holmegaard.
P.S. There is a piece on ebay in red that has the same stem/foot. They claim Blenko but I would bet lunch and dinner that it's not.

Also the ebay listing above mentions an acid etch signature on the base (which I can't see in their pictures). Is your piece signed?

I didn't see any Blenko catalogues that had this in and Blenko is one house that has lots of 60s catalogue pictures online. There is no signature but the pontil mark / scar is very similar as the ebay item. I suppose it just goes in the "interesting, unknown" file at the moment!
Thanks,
Ian

Why file under unknown when it has been identified as Empoli?

Blenko would always be a last resort attribution in the UK, as it's pretty uncommon whereas Empoli and similar Czech glass lines the streets. Has it really got a pontil mark? Can we see a picture please
-
Thank you, Ivo and Christine, and here is a picture of the base with what appears to be some sort of mark but you may find it isn't a pontil mark/scar but some other manufacturing mark?? I am learning all the time!
Yours sincerely,
Ian
