At a fraction over one inch, moulded base,no marks on the rim, shame it doesn't say Lalique either ::) ::),any ideas welcome, ;D ;D
-
sorry, no sensible comments to offer keith, other than................is it a tad too small into which to put fingers to get a pinch of salt, perhaps - I take it the inch is referring to the width, and assume the rim is EPNS. Are salts made with electoplating in contact with the salt - I don't recall - but might the salt corrode the metal??
-
I assumed the one inch meant the height :) if it's the diameter then perhaps it is a dolls house piece maybe?
Sorry I've no idea. I don't suppose it could be some form from Jobling opalique could it? I've absolutely no idea whether they would have made it though. It's pretty :)

Thanks both, one inch high with 1.25 inches across, just enough to get a couple of thin fingers in,if it is a salt, hadn't thought of Jobling, ;D ;D
-
that sounds minute for a salt tbh Keith - I wonder if it might have been something else?

How is the base finished? How many ribs does it have? It reminds me a bit of of this one http://lustrousstone.co.uk/cpg/displayimage.php?pid=1003
http://lustrousstone.co.uk/cpg/displayimage.php?pid=1007. It's much the same size and has 10 optic ribs. You probably had a tiny spoon.
-
or mustard??? :)
-
Moulded base and 14 ribs, bit small for mustard maybe, ;D
-
some similarity with this pair? although they are twice as wide as yours - I'm still wondering what yours might have been if not a salt :)

Very similar,if not a salt maybe a rouge pot? ;D ;D
-
well you've just reminded me of something. Many many moons ago, when my father was in the Navy and came back from one of his long journeys, he my mother some solid perfumes, I think four in a long box or maybe three. I thought they were Japanese as a child, but perhaps they weren't, maybe French? They were treasured items, used sparingly, presumably strongly scented or something. They smelt gorgeous is all I recall :) So perhaps your 'rouge' pot isn't far off.

referring to my post just above I think they must have been these or something very similar? That box looks familiar.

mmm, bearing in mind Christine's salt and the size of it, perhaps the two I linked to may be the Master salts and the one you have is an 'individual salt'

I saw these and they reminded me of your 'salt'.
I wonder if yours is the top part of some kind of similar candle holder?

Seems to be a lot of them about, ::) ;D ;D

Keith — If English, it could be Manchester as well as NE.
Size is OK for English mustard — some Colman's pots are smaller. Also plated rim is fine, seen on Colman's DG Ware pots.

I said mustard back in July - and everyone ignored me :'( :'(............. but I do think mustard is a good contender - the size is just right.
