Title: Signature ID HELP please!!! = David Nichols
Post by: ttttootall on July 20, 2013, 11:11:10 AM
Jack-in-the-Pulpit vase bought at a flea market recently.
Signature matches that of a sculpture I questioned not to long ago on board with no results.
Hopefully this will get us closer to the mystery artist.
Vase stands a little over 1 foot tall.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Tony

Signature looks a bit like 'Nicholas'
It would help if the signature was the right way up.

Well not so sure if these match or not...you be the judge.

Doubt they're the same signature. They have a different number of letters. Their only similarity is starting with N. Second one looks like a "Nal???"

I assume you mean Nichols (not Nicholas).  You know I think 'Nichols Art Glass' is ANDY Nichols.   It's possible the signature on the JIP vase may be that of DAVID Nichols of North Carolina.  I've looked at signature from both artist online and to me it looks more like David Nichols.   (Of course the online attribution could have been wrong as well.)

I believe you are right that the piece is by "David Nichols".
After seeing several more of his pieces and signature comparisons I can say you are 99% correct.
Also it has solved another one of my pieces bought in NC that I did not even realize was signed. ;D
Thank you very much,
Tony
