Title: plastic ?
Post by: ibovnu on May 03, 2006, 10:38:42 PM
Is there any such thing as depression glass with molded plastic around the inside of the lid of a cookie jar? or cheap metal (silver) rims around the top of a large bowl?  I have included a link to the photos of each of these.... Thanks for your help  ...

Plastic no, your jar is very much late 20th century/early 21st.

Metal rims yes, your bowl could possibly be 1930s but we really need to see all of it to guess its age. It could be anything from 1930 to 2006!

The question related to plastic around the lids of depression glass cookie jars and the answer to that is, as Christine stated, no. Moulded plastic seals etc around jar lids date from later than the American Depression period (1930s) which is when the question referred to.

ibovnu your plastic rim image seems to have been swallowed by a black hole. ;)
