Title: Belgian Badge weight? Or Scottish? Or?
Post by: pooleandpaperweights on July 20, 2013, 02:33:23 PM
Brought this today at Detling for £4.  Is it Belgian as I suspected or something else?  Rough value would be appreciated!

Side veiw (straight on) and base photos would help.

Even if this was by Paul Ysart, I would personally not wish to pay more than £30 for one like this.

I thinks this is a Belgian weight as I have one quite similar to this with the RE (Royal Engineers) badge. The ground is wrong for Ysart as it is quite widely scattered whereas Ysarts weights have a compact groud also in my weight the badge is floating above the ground whereas with Ysarts they tend to be set on the ground. A nice weight and a great buy so well done

Couple more pics.  Badge is sitting on the ground, but yes I agree about the ground and my first thought was Belgian.....

Here is a picture of my Belgian badge weight, the ground is fairly similar to yours except by badge is floating above the ground
