Title: Scandinavian Purple Cased Glass Vase ? - ID thoughts required
Post by: Greg. on July 29, 2013, 03:28:33 PM
Purple/amethyst glass vase, with clear casing, fire polished rim and concave polished pontil mark to the base.

Measures exactly 10 inches tall.

Looks familiar, although not sure if that's perhaps just the reasonably generic tear drop shape. Certainly has a strong Scandinavian feel.

Many thanks for looking.

A possibility could be Stromberg, a bit tentative though.

The colour is similar to a riihimaki purple, but they usually carried an acid etched mark on a non pontil mark base.so maybe no luck there.

Thanks both for taking a look, its much appreciated.  :)

Strangely enough, it did come with a couple of pieces of purple Riihimaki!, however, I think the Stromberg suggestion or possibly Kosta are at present one of the likely candidates.  :)
