Title: Monart or Ysart?
Post by: niktam on August 03, 2013, 02:59:48 PM
Hi,
Have been told that this is either Monart or Ysart.
Pink section has been added separately to main cased body and has an obvious joining indent, rim is sharply cut and polished - are these both normal techniques to these makers?
Many thanks for any help given.

Hi, welcome to the board.  Your vase is by Caithness, see attached pics.  :)

All Monart Glass is Ysart glass - Ysart is the name of the family of glassmakers who worked at Monart and also at the later company Vasart, after Paul went to Caithness.
However, the vase you have is Caithness and nothing to do with the Ysart family I'm afraid. Paul was making paperweights at Caithness.

Thank you for your help in the correct attribution for this vase - I'm very grateful.
Thanks too, for this amazing site that has such a marvellous depth of knowledge to draw on.  I look forward to being able to develop my very limited understanding of glass with all the information that is available here.
Best wishes to all.
