Hello, I'm a newby to GMB (UK) and I have a few unidentified pieces, and if anybody has an opinion I would be very grateful. I currently have over 100 pieces in total, but I know what most of them are already.
This is a uranium glass dish which is about 12inches in diameter. The E. ETLING FRANCE 37 inscription (see picture) underneath it is engraved. In photos of other E. Etling pieces I've seen (none of them looking like this type of plate) the Etling name is cast into the bottom of the piece. So has anyone seen the name etched like this before or has the name been Dremelled on at a later date? Is the plate anything to do with Etling at all? Thanks for reading.

Looks like this one's a bit of a mystery then. Here's a better picture of the etched ETLING words (now I've figured how to save for the web in photoshop!).

Well, this is not my expertise, but all Etling I have ever seen is opalescent in the style of Lalique. I also looked at Google images, and this confirmed it for me. However, that's not to exclude that it is a genuine piece, but I would certainly err on the side of caution until firm evidence is available.
Just a thought, but does it glow under UV? (uranium glass)

As an addendum, this site (http://www.boasantik.com/specifikationer/2707-opalescent-glass-bowl-from-etling,-paris,-france-12609353) shows the proper Etling signature. Is it worth contacting them?

Thanks for advice and link David. I've had my doubts about this since I got it (auction job lot) - as you point out Etling stuff is all quite similar in appearance and rather posh. Don't have a UV light (or a Geiger counter) but I'm pretty sure it's uranium glass.
