Title: identify m ---kinam 17iv87
Post by: ic1 on August 17, 2013, 11:19:57 AM
Hi, I have been given a ( heavy) glass bottle with applied  and trailed glass with the above signature etched to the base and cannot identify the first three/ four characters and was looking for some help. I would appreciate it. The trailed glass has suffered some loss and a few chips to the rest.

Could we see the whole vessel? I don't recognize the signature. A closer picture of it may help, because the signature does not enlarge  well on the viewer.

John, no help here. I couldn't tell much from the pictures, but the glass doesn't look like Murano to me.

I would have to agree Anita, it does look a little like it could have been made by John Airlie (Kirkhill Glass, Scotland) but the signature just does not tie in.

Duplicate topics merged and the whole moved to glass. Please don't post duplicate topics about the same item or we get confused. Glass is the proper place to post an ID request, the country forums are for when you know the originating country but want more info about it. Ta! :)

Meanwhile, I'd suggest the second line is the date - 17.iv.87 would relate to 17 April 1987, so you're looking for a glassmaker working at that time.

Thanks for the merge Anne. It has been a while since I was last on here and got a little confused...........senior moment! I had sort of figured out the dating bit but am still no nearer to identifying it. Hopefully one of the experts out there will be able to assist further. Thanks again and here's hoping!
