Post by: essi on August 23, 2013, 08:02:30 PM
Bought this vase at woking glass fair many years ago.sold as unsigned hoglund.I have seen many similar shapes in books and catalogues but none of this type.Does anybody have one of these or know anything about this vase.
Thank you.

hello Craig, thanks for your reply.I should able to post some dimensions soon(when i can find it).
The glass is so bubbled that one or two break the surface of the glass.
I know some hoglund boda was not signed i live in hope.
thanks

No problem, It also has a resemblance to some of the Beranek pieces, but the shape is not familiar and the pontil seems a little more polished than the examples in my collection....

Maybe Robert will glance at this one. Possibly a mod could put Beranek? in the title to draw his attention....

I will also check all of the early Beranek drawings I have and see if the shape is represented there.....

Thanks for the info Craig. My knowledge of Czech glass is limited, but over the years of not finding a Scandinavian I/D why not Czech?.

We will see what Robert says. I could not locate the shape in the drawings I have, but that does not rule them out in my mind. I also looked at the pontil marks on mine again, and a couple of them are cleaner than most of them. It is on examples which have more clear or translucent glass at the surface.  There appears to be a small space of clear at the rim of your example in the first pic.

Either way, it is an interesting piece of glass...
