Hello,
i have this beautiful Art Glass Paperweight decorated with a speckled blue background with metallic streaks and what looks like a red sun blob.
it is of a high quality and feels and looks great.
sadly i have no idea who the maker might be, there is a similarish one online by Kosta Boda,
but this one has a frosted glass base and no signature.
if you could help that would be marvelleous ;D
thanks in advance

Hi Steven,
I do not know enough about Kosta Boda to comment on that.
Actually, your weight reminds me of one made by correia glass. I wonder whether it could be a second by that studio (looking at the picture, I feel something has gone wrong with the top of the sun... but I may be completely mistaken). Perhaps the specialists on American and Swedish glass studios will have more info.

Almost certainly USA made, and as Sophie B suggests, probably something went wrong, so a second - although well made. That top half of the Sun (or Moon) is too far to the left. I attach a couple of Correia Pwts - Light Moon & Dark Moon to illustrate why I am fairly sure it is from the USA.

PS USA makers often engrave in the lower part of the side. I suggest a light rub with talc to check if that has been done in this case. The talc will fill the signature grooves if they exist.

Thank you so much both of you,
i just put red sun as that is what it looked like to me, it is however just abstract blobs of red and is repeated this way on the other side of the weight.
i think your both right in thinking Correia, sadly i still cannot find a signature
do you know if Correia ever just use a label? also do they frosted bases such as mine?
kind regards steven

No, they that it reminded them of Correia. The quality just doesn't t look to be there; it's only vaguely similar. My guess would be China from the base and the slightly sloppy work

Not Kosta by any stretch of the imagination.
