This vase reminds me of Timo Sarpaneva's "Orchid" vase. Something VERY similar is pictured on a website showing Alexandrite vases positively ID'ing a Tapio Wirkkala vase: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/31012-tapio-wirkkala-neodymium (picture to the far right). Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Charles,
The vase in the link has got a Skrdlovice label on it. I believe your vase is Czech. (I'd say it's an Emanuel Beranek design from 1954... hopefully someone will confirm.)
Anik :)

Hi Charles,
definately Skrdlovice, designed by Emanuel Beranek, though I would suggest from 1959 (PN 5901 or 5902, depends on the size -- dimensions would help greatly ;D )
The one on CW was posted correctly >> here (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/34411-emanuel-beranek-1958-pattern-5869-for), it was obviously put besides the Scandi pieces just to compare the colours...
Nice vase, btw.

Thanks! It is great to know who designed and made it. Mine is 16 cm tall, and doesn't seem to be Alexandrite (color of purple doesn't change enough between indoor and outdoor light), but I'm not sure.

Ok, than I am not so sure about the pattern number anymore, but maybe some other Skrdlovice expert can help.
I like the colourway a lot!
