Picked this up today, more out of curiosity 'cos I don't think it will make a fortune.
As Coronation items, and indeed ashtrays go it's quite nice.
Would really like to know about the technique how the transfer is applied to the base? looks and feels like metal, Gold perhaps.

The coronation that never was but has more memorabilia surviving than any other. :D
Saying that this is a nice piece. I have not seen it before.

It is probably just applied gilding on the back, assuming the design is in the glass

I think it is a special edition made with real Gold leaf, and by the way it glows like crazy under black light :)
It came out of the same cabinet as the George Elliot piece Denver but was £4.00 cheaper :)

Gilding is real gold, or at least it was then. I've seen other royal souvenirs with similar gold on the back. Doesn't look like uranium though, probably just a high manganese content
