Title: ID black glass duck
Post by: Keencollector on September 28, 2013, 03:06:14 AM
Hello Glass Message Board members and thanks for your help in the past.

I have a black glass duck which I originally thought was manufactured by Sowerby as it has a small indistinct part mark to base which I guessed was their swan mark.  Now not sure as the Sowerby duck photo I have is different to my black duck - is much deeper in body and has a shorter neck.    My duck if 5 1/4 inches wide, beak to tail tip and 2 inches high at top of head.

Could you ID manufacturer and date (if possible) for me.   Thanks, Keencollector.

please can you add a photo of the base, we always need photos of the base as well, and could you add a clear one of the suspected mark please?
Many thanks

Those links proved very helpful.  Thank you both Roy and Christine for your assistance.
I have seen Pamela's site mentioned on GMB before but didn't connect that it referred to Pressglas.  I have now been able to identify two items I have and some of the other French pieces in the photo's have some similarities to other pieces I haven't been able to trace.  It's a great referrence site.
I agree Roy the duck certainly looks the same.
Many thanks all, Margaret.
