I have a good friend in New Zealand that buys glass and ships it to me so that I can combine and ship to her. Ends up costing her less, and she gets some glass that otherwise sellers would not ship overseas. this is one of her pieces. I told her I would post it here for some thoughts on ID.
Very well executed in a kind of Satin finish glass. It measures about 4.5 inches in diameter and approx 2.25 inches tall. The pontil is done quite nicely. Nailsea was suggested as a possibility, but I know next to nothing about that glass.... so here it is..... looking for some help.
TIA, Craig

Extremely unlikely to be Nailsea - that's a catchall for anything with stripes. But I think it might be a fairy lamp base

Your bowl is indeed a Fairy Lamp base. English, c.1895
The term Nailsea is commonly used for this type of glass but it has nothing to do with the place Nailsea. Fairy lamp collectors refer to this type of glass as Nailsea-type. The official name used by Samuel Clarke is Verre Moire.
The problem with this type of base is that it requires a straight-sided lamp cup, which are very difficult to find.
There is a market for this base should you decide to sell it.

Thank You Jim,
I appreciate the help and will pass the information along to my friend.

The following is what your base looks like complete with a fairy lamp. This color is known as citron.

Thanks again. Oddly, the gal that owns this is the same gal as on Cw with the red and gold base you id'd about a year ago.... She must have an affinity for the bases, as she does not collect fairy lamps :-)
