Flask shaped vase in mottled blue with an applied contrast amber rim decoration. The front and back also have a slight texture/dimple design, though hard to photograph. Reminds me of Scandinavian glass but I am not convinced that it is. It has an etched mark that looks like IAN. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks Chris

It certainly does look as if it reads IAN.
I did have a very vague thought that it could have been made by Ian MacDonald, a contemporary artist I'm very fond of, but he is in England, and I see you are in Australia.
So I would doubt it.
He does not have one distinctive style - he is very versatile, from organic/lumpy/bubbly to ultra clean and pure perfection.
It struck me he might have simplified his signature.
Can't find much on-line...

Very sure it is Ian Johnstone an Australian Glass Artist. The dropped part of the A is the same as on a goblet and vase that I have of his. See photos

A much more realistic and accurate id, Ross, well done. :)

Hi Sue and Ross,
Thank you for the help in identifying the signature. I am amazed as always, how helpful people are. Thanks once again. Chris
