Title: Satinato Vase With Square Bottom - Moretti, Aureliano Toso or other?
Post by: horochar on October 05, 2013, 02:41:44 PM
I'm wondering if this Satinato vase might have been produced by Moretti, Aureliano Toso or some other Murano producer.  It is quite tall 39 cm/15.5 inches.

Thanks,
Charles

Hi

I am fairly sure this is Nason in the Coroso effect where the finished glass if dipped in a light form of Acid until it gently wares away the surface.  Used to create the effect of old Roman Glass

It might be dipped in acid but it's not corroso - the surface is smooth not pitted

Antichi Angeli might also be a possibility - they had a range of satinate wares of similar form/colour in the 1980s/90s.

Also, Corroso looks much more like this:
