Hi, Ive got this very large bowl and currently not able to find any information during my searches. I don't think there is much age to it though. The pattern within the centre is not something I have seen before either. The centre of the bowl is relatively flat, uneven in areas, but gives the appearance of being a dome shape. The base area is concave. The bowl is very heavy, weighing approx 3.3kg. Measurements 23.8cm x 238cm x 5.6cm. The corners around the dia. rim of the bowl is slightly concaved. There's not much more I can really say about it other than it is very well polished. Any help appreciated.

don't think you'd get much salad in something that was only 2.1/8" deep - can't we call it something else ;) ;)
You use the word 'polished' Otis, which implies it's was cut originally - but it looks like a pressed piece to me?

We've got to rationalise our food supply now Paul ;D. We can certainly call it something else. Obviously now you have pointed out, not a salad bowl. I'll let you decide what to call it, cuz I just haven't a clue ::). Correction, it is a pressed piece, with a very smooth surface. Thanks for highlighting my errors. :(. Pressed, one would of thought there would be multiples, would you not agree? I've had a quick surch again this morning, but nothing yet.
