Title: Identification of Paperweight on Ebay
Post by: dasm on October 23, 2013, 02:54:25 PM

Hi,

I have seen these paperweights on EBay, I really like the one on the right, I thought it looked a bit more Caithness like and was just wondering if anybody could let me know if it was Caithness or Selkirk?

I am not the one doing the selling and I have requested some more information on it's condition but just wondering if anybody else knew here?

Thanks

David

Hi.  If they are Selkirk or Caithness they should say so on the base - but they may well be modern Chinese.  You really need a base picture to tell.

Hi and welcome to the gmb. :)

It's fine to post the ebay listing here - but not images taken from it! They belong to the seller and it is against copyright law to  use them somewhere else without the express permission of the owner (ie. the selller)

Don't fret, you're new, we'll get somebody to remove it.. ;)

Thanks Alan/Sue,

I tried to remove the picture but I don't think I have the ability to do that, sorry about that. I have emailed the seller for more details as per your suggestion to whether there are markings below.

It doesn't really make a difference as I really like it but I do like to have a bit of history about the paperweight when displayed.

I will let you know if I get any further information back.

Thanks again

David

You can modify your own posts for an hour after first posting, but after that, one of our lovely moderators has to do it for us.

Hope you have fun here, now you've found us. :)

Have you seen the site run by "our" Frank... Scotland's Glass?

Loads of images of Caithness weights there for help with identification, and much, much more too.  :)

that will keep you busy for a while!
