Probably another non-starter, but the cut design is most unusual, and when flicked it has one of those rings to die for, so thought I'd give it a go.
Star cut foot with reasonable amount of wear - but have a feeling it might not be pre 1940 - despite the fact that I usually associate frosting with considerable age - the Victorians seemed keen on that effect on pressed glass. But it could be older than I'm thinking.
The whole of the underside - apart from the foot was frosted - and then cut through for the design - which is unlike the shed loads of boring criss-cross mitres from the middle third of the C20. Am assuming the frosting is an acid process.
No marks that I can see - about 9.25" (235 mm) in diameter and 2" (50 mm) tall.
If anyone has any ideas please do shout, and thanks for looking :)

Paul, it reminds me very much of a Percival Vickers pattern (Rd No 217227, dated 6 March 1868) which I looked at some time ago, when comparing its similarities and differences with the Sherdley Doric pattern. Yours isn't an exact match for either, but I have seen another similar design and am trying to recall where - I think it may have been in one of the catalogues on Pamela's Musterbuch site... might be worth a mooch through and see what you can find?

Both the PV and Sherdley are pressed designs, although as mentioned this piece is cut. Don't think there's any real similarity with the Sherdley designs - but there's quite a striking likeness with the PV design which can be seen in the attached Archives pictures for Rd. 217227 - so maybe some plagiarism somewhere along the line (not quite sure about the spelling on the original drawing).
The vast majority of Pamela's 'Musterbuch' site is presumably devoted to catalogues for pressed glass - although I know for example that some VSL is cut material.
I'll have a look later today and see how I get on.
I did wonder if this might have been something from Stuart - the leafy bits have that deeper cut on one side which accentuates the light reflection - but don't know if they did any frosted material. I'm very much in the dark as to what to think of re age on this - the cutting is unlike most cut designs I see.
It was only £2. so not great cost, and it's a usable piece. :)

It is a nice looking piece Paul, and I suspect you'll find variations on a theme across the pressed and cut pattern catalogues. I'll keep an eye open for other similar examples on my catalogue etc. trawls for you. :)
