Title: Aventurine and zanfirico globe vase, applied foot and rim with gold foil
Post by: rocco on November 04, 2013, 04:58:23 PM
Nice and quite delicate vase, copper aventurine stripes with white/blue zanfirico inbetween.
Applied foot and rim made of clear glass with gold foil.
12 cm tall, diameter 12.5 cm. Weighs only 220 gramm, so really lightweight.

Any thoughts on age and maker highly appreciated! :)
I saw pieces in a similar style by Salviati (early 20th century), but also later (mid century) by Barovier & Toso and Fratelli Toso.
I am sure there are more companies who used this technique...

Ballarin perhaps?

Thanks a lot, Ivo!
A quick internet search didn't show anything really similar (at least not in their recent production, which seems to be finished with a flat polished base).
But as I have no idea what they might have produced decades ago, you may well be right...
I will explore this avenue further :)
