Sea Dance comes in three colours: Sable (likely your weight) was first issued in 1989 - and G was the letter used to denote manufacture in 1989; the number (18406) would be the running number of unlimited weights made that year. Do a search on Scotland's Glass (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=159&Itemid=51) to see images of all three versions.

With engraved weights you often find initials of the engraver - but Sea Dance is not an engraved weight ... would it be the maker? Whilst it was designed by Colin Terris,  there will have been many people actually making the weights. I cannot remember having seen this before - has anyone else?

On the other hand, to me the DE looks a bit amateurish - so possibly it was not a standard feature, but someone thought her/his initials should be there.

thanks Wolf....since I was having problems resizing the photos I only added one...here is another...

I think after seeing the pics on the site you gave me...it may be "gold"....but I defer to your expertise  ;)

And I need to make a correction..I purchased in 2000 at an auction..in a lot....my notes say it was in a presentation box....

I agree - "Gold" - seeing just the base was a wild guess :o.
You will have seen on Scotland's Glass that Gold was first issued in 1983 - but still in the catalogue in 1999. G still indicates manufacture in 1989.

Well ... Wolf (to be more accurate: Wolfhart) is my correct name ... someone (on another forum) felt, Wuff was better describing my usual attitude ... so I adopted it  ::).
