Post by: Mel45 on November 12, 2013, 12:15:18 AM
Hi All,

New here  8). Just wanting to ID a pw of my mother's - given to her in the 60s in Australia. No idea whether it is chinese/murano/vasart etc and vintage.

Sorry about the reflections.

4cm diameter x 3cm height.

Hi Mel45 welcome to the Board.

Your paperweight is most likely a miniature by Strathearn Glass of Scotland, and the 1960s would tie in with that. Strathearn Glass operated from 1964 to 1980.

But it might be by the Vasart Ltd company (which was the name of the company before it was Strathearn Glass). Similar items were sold as mini weights or used as tops or handles to Bar Set items and other objects.

Thanks for your information KevinH :)

I can see these little glass treasures could be quite addictive. Better stop looking.
