Hello!
Obviously this item is meant to be backlit.
But other than that I have zero clue? It seems to be missing it's other half
Of the "solar system"
Is is a fairy light? No hole for candle
Is it a shade? No hole for mounting
Is it a butter dish dome lid? No handle to lift
It is a night light?
I'm plumb stumped and exhausted from scouring the web for clues
The problem being when I type moon stars etc...
LE Smiths moon and stars pattern takes over the search engine
Thank you to any and all who take the time and interest to help me.

Disregard measurement request. Dealer buddy of mine stopped by & I had this on screen. Its a deco wall shade mounted flush against a wall used in movie theaters in the 30s & 40s for patrons walking into the dark theater. He has seen them before, exact same as yours, star shape edge, moon & star pattern ball set into a metal star shaped holder using interior clips. Again it was mounted flush against the wall.
I should add this though...we found a pair on ebay of the hanging type, same star edge, same globe with same pattern only the edge was drilled in two places for the two handing rods as they were the theater lobby ceiling type...he laughed at the price...roughly 10X what they normally sell for at architectural & renovation salvage operations open to the public. Normally values are not given here, however he did say its a $90-$100 shade at retail so not bad at all. Ken

Your my new best friend!
Thank you so much. Yep not bad for a $2 purchase from the half price room at
The country antique store.
Maybe she has another?
Ya know I thought of every kind of light except for
Theater or commercial.
I'm not sure what the rules are but if you happen to see them again
I would like the/a link. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in my searching
The web or ebay.
Mainly I'm curious if they are all truly identical or if the other half of the solar system
Is on others or different planet combinations.
ie: on mine you can see Saturn, the moon, one other planet and along the edge closest to the
Star shaped edge is a LG dot with 4SM dots around it NSEW
again not sure if this is meant to be another planet, or a mark for placement, Or if I'm even making sense. LOL. It reminds me of cross hairs used in type setting or printing.
Regardless I can not thank you enough my OCD gets bad when I can not identify a pice of glass
And this one so far has been the worst.
So glad to have found this site and your help!

Any chance you might post an image directly to the board for us all to see?
I won't go to photobucket - it has been known to mess around with computers.
Not only that, images there get moved and disappear, leaving us with an identification - but not of what has been identified!
thanks in advance. :)
