Stepping out of my comfort zone on this one. I can't make out the signature. Any ideas?

Your links aren't working - gives an internal server error
-
Weird. I just moved them all to their own separate album, there might have been some permissions or something gone awry..

let me know if this works or not
-
No, but it could be my end :'(
-
I've been having this trouble with somebody else's picassa albums as well as this one. :'(
-
The link to the album is working fine for me. Unfortunately I am clueless about the vase, would they be described as window murrine?.

Looks like a security thing as it's fine at home - lovely vase but no idea
-
Still clueless. :'(
Would you pretty please be kind enough to post your images directly to the board?
That means there aren't any problems with anybody seeing your glass, and it also means the board has a nice record of the glass and any comments and identifications that are made.
Images posted in picassa can be moved or disappear, which is not a lot of use for the board either. :)

it takes a ton of time to resize things to an acceptable level for this board, it's not something I'm willing to do. I'll upload it to photo bucket and try that. :)

If that fails I'll upload it to my webpage. Gotta do that at some point anyway :)
-
Photobucket has a nasty habit of corrupting computers, I'm not going there.
I do feel if you want help of board members, you should be willing to post directly to the board. It's not that hard, even I can do it.

Hi Azelismia,
Re sizing in Picasa is simple , select the items and at the bottom of the page select "export" bring the slider down to 600 or so , select the file to receive the re sized pics and press the button , hey presto its done.
cheers ,
Peter.

I have moved this thread to Glass as we do not know that it is Italian / Murano.
However, I am sure something like this vase, with what I would call "open canes with depth" has been discussed before on the Board. Maybe other folk will recognise the style.
(Azelismia's images on Picasa work ok for me from the link in the third post.)
For image resizing, there are now several web sites that offer a free, and "easy" service (search for "image resize")
Anne (moderator) has mentioned a good one in the past but I cannot find the reference. Another option that I have tested and which works well is:
http://www.picresize.com/
That resizing site is simple to use and has a workable range of features for cropping and editing if needed. In particular, it permits entry of pixel size for one dimension and automatically retains the correct image proportions (something that is not offered in some other sites). The site also states that it does not retain a copy of your image after 20 minutes unless you specifically use the "save to web" option. The standard option to "save" the file allows you to provide the a new filename and location on you computer.

the pics work fine for me also Kev. And on the other external hosting sites.
The issue is that any information given on here, to help with id, will be absolutely useless as soon as the pictures are removed from the external links... and that happens a lot.
Many of the threads I go to with pics hosted on external sites, have all the pics gone and it's really frustrating and a useless search and takes up a topic thread that has no meaning.

Agreed, it makes future research impossible and takes up server space with no useful information stored.
I still can't see any of the images in picassa.

The main problem I am having Azelismia is that the signature photo has been taken "straight on" so the background murrine makes it impossible to see it clearly.
Can I suggest a possible way to photograph it is to shoot from a very shallow angle so the main body of the glass reflects a "white" background and the signature appears to be written in black. This removes the pattern and colours of the glass from the picture and makes it easier to read the signature. Attached are two photos to show what I mean. As you can see the second one is much clearer.

Hi there:
I just tried to crop in Azelismia pic some, and fiddle with the colors some to try to help here. Does this help anyone?? I thought it looked like CED England, but maybe it just says Cenedese
(( AS THAT WOULD MATCH TOO maybe with messy writing)).....as it looks pretty Italian to me, IMHO :-\ but I am ?? ??
** Added ( after) another one that is Bigger, last one

I was thinking C & D ??????? myself. Buit the last three letters could be part of the name ofor perhaps the last two are a year eg.86
