Title: Azurite Color Not U.S. Candlesticks
Post by: Ohio on December 14, 2013, 06:47:31 AM
This is for a buddy of mine. We know they are not U.S. however marked Czech pieces with this Cambridge Azurite color have been found, so perhaps they are Czech. These were made in two parts, both press-molded and the upper parts hand-worked and joined to the bases. The broken pontil marks on the bottoms were crudely smoothed with an engraving/dremel-like tool. They are 7-7/8" tall. Any ideas/input sincerely appreciated. Thanks, Ken

I've been looking at a few pieces in this colour glass recently and wondering if they might be Turkish or something.  I'm just curious how these  might have been press moulded?  did you mean mold blown?  they don't look identical to me so I just wondered.

M I believe he means press molded which in the U.S. is different than blown molded which may require a blower (human) to blow the gather into the mold & manipulate if needed. On a press mold no human is needed, the gather is introduced by a plunger (some call it a follower) into the mold & the form is pressed into shape. Maybe different way of putting this (language) in European terms so maybe its the same thing. Could be they are mold blown though, I don't know because all I have are his pics.  Ken
