Title: 18th century continental glass
Post by: Antwerp1954 on January 06, 2014, 10:04:46 AM
I bought this glass a while ago and it was described as 18th century continental. Following a recent thread on this board I've cobbled together a light box and have been re-photographing my collection. A useful exercise in itself as each item is rehandled, dusted and reconsidered.

I'm trying to date this glass and decide where it was made.

It is made of soda glass (yellow luminescence under UV and very light), the engraving which looks of good quality is in the rococo rocaille style. The pedestal is seven sided on a plain conical foot with a snapped off pontil mark.

My thoughts are Silesian from about 1750. Over to you.
