A Green slag glass drum complete with lid. I have seen these before but mostly missing there lids.
I thought they were most likely made by Davidson.
The top of the lid finial is in the shape of a helmet.
Height 4.5" / 11.5cm

I have one of these in white, with a thatched roof-style white glass lid (possibly a replacement) and a Victorian patent/date lozenge on the base.
I'll try to find it.

Have one in blue without a lid which - I have seen - should have two crossed drumsticks, so perhaps there is more than one version. As far as I remember it had a Sowerby peacock - but I may be mistaken. It was a very long time ago.

I like it, especially the color. Thanks for sharing.
By the way, the finial on the lid of yours is not a helmet, it is a "shako." Shakos were widely worn as military uniform hats up until around the first world war, and since then they have still been used to to today but less commonly than in earlier times. I do not know the age of your drum but it could be either during the time when shakos were commonly worn by militaries or it could be afterwards to evoke an image of the old days when drums were commonly used by militaries for commanders to signal their troops during a battle.

Thanks
Ivo I do seem to remember seeing one with drumsticks a long time ago . I have also had the same drum myself but missing the lid. I am sure that the one I had was larger than this one, maybe different sizes were made with a different lid.
It may well be made by Sowerby, I would not be looking beyond those 2 makers.
Thanks Kimo for the information on the shako.

Greener might be an option - they had a wide range of slag colours

Just a question - is it 'green' or is it turquoise ? The pics on my monitor look turquoise so just wondering.#

Christine I did consider Greener but 99.9% sure its not .
M it may well be turquoise but I would still call it green as to blue . I have shown it next to a blue Sowerby cauldron.
Thanks Roy
