Hi all, this is crystal glass with coloured glass applied randomly, looking like little flags,it has a broken pontil smoothed to a frosted finish, does that hint at Chinese ?many thanks..8cm ht.

The stripey shards used to make the "flags" look quite similar to the shards used to decorate the base of IoWSG's Seascape design.

There is a possibility your bit might be something made by one of the workers there, on their own, rather than producing set pieces for the studio. They did do that, at the first Open Day there, there was a whole shelf of one-off "workers pieces" for sale.

Just a vague suggestion.  :)

Nice suggestion Sue,it's a sensible way to do tests also as you can always sell them.

It also allows the makers to experiment a bit on their own.
I did buy a bit from the "Maker's Shelves" at the Open Day, so I can guarantee this really did happen.

The same shards were also used in the gardens around the studio - in amongst pebbles and shells etc..

A big bubble with coloured stripes all over it, first needs to be blown, before smashing it to obtain the multicoloured stripey shards used. Seascape is considered to be one of the most complex ranges produced.

Thanks very interesting ,i'm guessing the shard ball is blown very thin?i can just feel a slight bump behind each "flag".
