Title: Blue glass jug prunts id please. ID = Bernardo Gordiola
Post by: brucebanner on January 21, 2014, 10:34:46 PM
I have a growing collection of these and i have no idea where they come from, this one was a £3 bargain from ebay last week, it has some age as the base is worn around the rim, it also has a broken pontil. (i also hope my photo's are improving). 8 inches in height 2 3/4 inches across the base.

There is one on ebay at present and it has a stopper: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Italian-green-glass-jug-/321296898410?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item4acec9996a

The one in the Gordiola museum in Mallorca does not have a stopper which may have been borrowed from an Empoli piece.

That stopper does look a bit incongruous but if it is a marriage it was from 'within the family'. Scroll down for more Gordiola stoppered bottles: http://www.gordiola.com/pdf/Botellas.pdf

Looks quite correct. I was misled by this Empoli beast.
