Title: Glass Mark. Clover Leaf and B & C Extra. ID = Beamish & Crawford Brewery, Cork

Anyone know this Mark ? The Glass is approx 19cm in height. It came with an auction lot, my worst buy, of Antique Glass. This and two small Funnel shaped Glasses were the only pieces without damage !. I didn't have time to check them over !! Not a mistake I will make again.

That is not a glass mark but a customer logo, probably for a beer brand as these are beer glasses, I'd guess circa 1900. The "extra" is a giveaway - meaning it is not a shipping line.

Thanks Ivo, Customer Logo makes sense but I dont understand the 'extra' meaning not a shipping line  ??? I have messaged a 'Beer Glass'  Collector and will post any results. Cheers  ;D

That "clover" leaf with the little dints in the edges is a shamrock leaf, not clover.   Narrows down your search to breweries on the Emerald Isle.   The lack of an official (Irish or British) capacity mark suggests that the glass is for something sold by the bottle, such as Mackeson or Barley Wine.   "EXTRA" (= strong) would fit either stout or barley wine, i.e. an extra ale.   I've always thought that an extra ale was over 5% proof, but I've not checked that, and I could easily be wrong.   In my opinion a lady drinker's glass.

So a little old lady sitting in a snug with a glass of Stout (extra) in her hand. I wonder what she would think of the drinking from bottles we see in pubs now  ;D I did not expect to get this answered at all never mind this quick !  Still get surprised on here. Thanks a lot for the info and help.

Pete — Your glass was probably from a B & C tied house, was intended for Beamish Extra Stout, and dates from no later than the 1970s, when B & C tied houses were first permitted to sell Guinness.

The glass has a swirl in it from top to bottom like rifling. Not intended for a pattern it's just not very well made. I did think it was older than it is simply because it didn't look well made. It's not something I would list it just intrigued me and its always good to learn from the experts on here. Much appreciated Bernard.  Thanks.
