Hello everyone. This is a strange thing, with no known history, having been found in a cupboard. Of hollow blown construction, even the foot is hollow. It looks like a goblet but is a decorative non-drinking vessel. Although hollow, the cup is sealed so could carry a small quantity of water........ but not really enough for any flowers. Any candle would topple it immediately due to it being extremely lightweight. A baffling thing...

Admittedly this is a bit of a bump. If anyone has seen a similar piece to this, I would be very pleased to hear about it. The technique as almost like lampworking, being hollow and extremely light. Almost like some Lauscha type pieces............ a vase for daisies? Or holy water, or shirt studs?
Could a mod adjust the thread title to Re: A mysterious piece of glass not a vase Lauscha? please, thank you,

Italian decorative glass which goes by the brand name "VID "- I have several items from them. I think it may be the same company which produces decorative Grappa bottles.

Thanks for the reply and possibly helpful pointer. It really is a strange thing I have been unable to compute.

Thanks Robert, I'll take a look at VID when I get a moment later this week and report back if I find anything. Much appreciated!
