Title: For our pleasure:- William Walker's work.
Post by: chopin-liszt on February 03, 2014, 03:45:45 PM
Mr. Walker has very kindly sent me some images to show everybody. I am copying and pasting from his message the descriptions.

"The paler large open bowl is of the West Dorset coastline from the sea looking back at low tide, bright, spumey..sandbars, pools...blowing a gale...
this bowl is about 300mm across."
(first 2 pics)

"The other, darker landscape is of Lulworth Cove, Dorset"

"The  Aarum Lily chandelier is pretty self explanatory, it's 2 metres tall by 1m. 80 across."

Last one. This is a landscape of Loch Oskaig, Western Highlands.

This is staggeringly beautiful glass.  I'm new to GMB but have been a fan of William's for many years - I remember well the studio in Wimborne Minster.  Would love to see some more pictures please if they are available, to keep me going until I can get to Weymouth !

Thanks Sue - I've been collecting odd bits of Michael Harris / William Walker 'designed / made / inspired' glass for many years.  I think I got my first piece of William's at an exhibition in Bath in the mid 80's and holidays in Malta led me in the Harris direction (and at that time I did not know the link between them).  They have given many years of pleasure  :)

There is a lot of Mdina/Harris talk on the board here, and loads of lovely pics. Just have a good browse. ;D
