Title: Glass Bottle
Post by: Rogerdoger on February 09, 2014, 09:42:18 PM
Hi I have just found a heavy glass bottle made by J Kilner of Wakefield it hase the name of a Chemist F Cook Warminster. It has a marble enclosed in the neck. What would it be used for as I thought this type of bottle was for fizzy drinks?

Roger — welcome to the GMB.

Answer to your question is "Fizzy drinks".   I've seen both chemist's soda water bottles and chemist's soda syphons before.   Chemists often did a lot more than just dispense drugs.   See the business card about half way down this link for an interesting variety of products and services (including soda water and lemonade) offered by a chemist:-
