I thought I would post pics of this as there is quite a bit of Michael Harris input going on here :D . It has trailing and gold & silver leaf . 7cm diameter.
-
I was wondering if Guernsey Glass and Island Studio Glass really are the same. Guernsey Glass has the three lions logo but Island Studio glass has a carriage and perhaps a glassblower on its labels but no lions.
-
Thanks I've edited the title ;)
-
It wasn't aimed at you ;) ; it was more of a general query that I've been unable to answer with a quick google
-
Cheers, I understand, I didn't know ! ;D
-
They are one and the same.

Christine it is interesting you comment about a a carriage and a glassblower on labels. I have only ever seen the one below and it shows a single level bungalow with a central portico. Presumably the house where the glass was made. If you have examples of the other types I would like you to post them.

That's the label I was thinking of - I haven't got one but I have seen it. My question still stands. Do we KNOW they are the same? Has anything been seen with the label and the lions?
-
Ross's third pic. of the base of the weight shows a similar label with the lions :)
-
Doh!
-
But a very pertinent question and one for which we now do have a definitive answer. ;D
-
Glad that is sorted , thanks all. Ross, I thought you were talking about the paperweight being the same, ::) not the company ! Thanks for posting your pics !
-
I actually like the red paperweight a little better than my black version and I do like mine a lot.
Ross
-
And I really like them both. :o :-[ ::)
but they're paperweights!
I like them far better than any other pwts I've seen from any Harris related company.
(and yes, that includes some incredibly expensive contemporary ones)
I want one!
-
Not letting you near my JH's any more...
-
Your JHs are a completely different sort of style. Pretty and delicate, with controlled use of enamels.
Which isn't my sort of thing really.
I like the lumpiness and hot, fluid work of these, with the strong colours.
I'm just cheaper to please than you are. :-*
-
:)
I didn't know Guernsey did 'Azurene' until I found this :o . Looks a bit like the home made faggots in the butcher's window up the road ! I do like the plumb colour though and yours looks yummy too Ross . I'll keep it out of the kitchen :-X
-
"home made faggots"... :o
What on earth are those? It conjures up images of rainbow-knitted persons.
I didn't know it was a word we are even allowed to use...
-
lol ! :D
They are a bit like small Haggis but moister and more tasty :-X :-X
-
what?
They have short legs on one side, and long legs on the other, and you chase them around hills the wrong way for their legs, to make them fall over so you can catch them? ;)
-
Exactly ! When you catch one down here you say....'what a fag..got it ' hence the name ! :-X
-
;D ;D ;D
You win! brilliant comment. thanks for the giggle. :-*
-
;) Hope you can find one for your collection :D
-
It would go really well with my two Twists glass (Mike Hunter) latticino lizards (on pwts, but they don't count as pwts to me.)
Thanks again.
-
One of the good things about my weight is the clear three lions stamp.

and in conjunction with the Island Glass label, Ross. Don't forget that. ;D
