Cut glass,around 4 inches tall with star cut base 'lobes' to each corner and some wear,any ideas as to where in the world ? ??? ??? ;D ;D

I'm clueless, but could it be an inkwell, rather than a perfume?

no idea at all, but speaks French to me.

Not and inkwell. It would be too deep to be functional. It might be a perfume bottle but I would think it more likely to be a bottle for some kind of toiletry liquid. If it were a perfume bottle it would more likely be topped with either a spray bulb type mechanism, or the glass top would likely have a long extension that would dip all the way down into the bottle for taking out a small drop of the perfume.

Thanks all,more googling required, ::) ;D ;D

Keith your bottle is considered a perfume anywhere from 1875 up to 1910-1915. The largest producers of cut bottles were (neck & neck) the English & the U.S., the French not nearly as much. Daubers did not appear in mass number until after 1915 when the manufacturers started mass producing the smaller pressed bottles in the mostly cylindrical shapes where a dauber was necessary. In the late 19th, early 20th century in bottles as yours the flat bottom of the stopper served the same purpose as the later dauber as usually these earlier bottles held a higher volume. Atomizers were very popular during this period of time but were more expensive than the bottles.
Awfully tough to attribute these cut bottles so be prepared to accept country of manufacture as as good as it gets.
