I recognized the cut pattern as being Walsh, but sadly the stopper was a replacement - so I'd pay a good price if someone has the correct stopper which they no longer need please :)
According to Reynolds - page 38 in his book - this design was used in both cut and moulded forms and was apparently quite common - although I remember seeing it only once before - and despite having looked through the pages of patterns in his book I can't see this one - does anyone know what it's called? I may well have missed it - due to their size, patterns on those pages are difficult to see clearly.
I've looked all over the glass for a backstamp, but as we know Walsh marks can be notoriously difficult to find even when they are there. Fortunately, the seller was unaware of the provenance of this piece which I'd imagine dates to somewhere in the 1940 - 1950 period - if I have that wrong, would be grateful if someone will correct me - thanks :) Looking at the type of cutting etc., I get the impression that it's of a later date than the swirly Farquharson designs.
