I recently bought a great piece by Alfredo Rossi, a Dolphin sculpture...however, I have been doing some google searches of him but can't seem to find a history of him! Just get the usual worthpoint, ebay (past listings) etc...does anybody have more info on this artist or a website link that contains more info on him?
Many thanks everyone :) Hope all the GMB member have been well? :)

Just give this one last bump :)

I presume it's nothing to do with the Rossi in this thread Kane?
Thought I'd link it for you just in case.

Hi flyingfree :)
Not to do with the Canadian Rossi glass blower(s). The piece is signed ''Alfredo Rossi Murano''. All I know is that it dates from around the 1980's. Have been through many google pages but no luck finding more info on him. His pieces sell for quite good sums but am more interested in who he is! :)
I have done a search here as well, and only get 4 threads with the mention of the Rossi name! :(
I will list the piece in the Murano section when I get a chance (am in the process of moving/looking for a ne place as they are selling my unit). It is quite heavy at 12kg's and just under 50cm tall. Quite a substantial piece and I love it!

he was in Murano before moving to Canada and now operates a studio/shop in Niagara Falls, I was there several times, most recently about a year and a half ago/

Tom, I got very confused with all the Rossi's. Is Alfredo Rossi the same Rossi as in Niagara Falls definitely?
My SIL lives close by and BIL worked at the Falls - I might have to ask SIL to go and check out their glass :)
Unfortunately I didn't realise and didn't check them out when I was over a few years ago ::)

not absolutely sure it's Alfredo. but it is the Rossi's and they came from Murano.

That twin dolphin set is similar to mine, except mine has a greenish base and a satinised/scavo finish to the dolphin. The shape of the base is similar to mine.
Possibly Angelo Rossi is a relative of Alfredo and Sergio?!
Odd that there is little known about Alfredo Rossi but his pieces fetch good money! Very strange indeed!
No luck with your link JP, but will keep trying :)

I found this today in a small junk shop a huge 16 inch tall vase, i think it's also by Alfredo Rossi the signature is identical to a few others online.
It has an iridescent rough scavo style outer surface.

Very Interesting.... another signed piece.
Was there ever a pic of the Dolphins at the beginning posted ?
