I haven't been able to find any information on this particular paperweight. Does anyone have any info on what this paperweight might be?

I suspect this is a modern Chinese weight.

Agreed.  If you search for 'Murano glass paperweight' on eg Alibaba you should find links to many Chinese makers offering 'Murano' paperweights, some with similar canes.  There are actually some quite complex reasonable quality paperweights too, for example Chinese lampwork (http://raymonds.en.alibaba.com/product/272028916-209554818/Murano_Glass_Paperweight.html). I recall pieces like this being offered on eBay about 10 years ago by a guy in California as 'superb Murano craftsmanship', at over US $100 each !
