Title: Green and Clear Scandinavian? Vase
Post by: SantaR on February 27, 2014, 04:11:00 PM
I don't know how I would describe this vase, therefore I have had no luck in Googling it.  It has a thick, clear base and then a green bulbous part then a funnel up to a rim that is flat but not cut off.  There is plenty of wear to the base and no pontil mark.  23cm tall, the baser is 5.5cm. I thought initially Empoli because of the green, but I don't think so.

I hope someone can help.

I found the maker after some searching it's a Tamara Aladin for Riihimaki, 70's.  I can't find one exactly like it online though.  I wonder if anyone can tell me the name of this particular vase.  Or maybe a moderator can move this to the Scandinavian section for me?

Many thanks

I would not be surprised if this was made by Aseda, see page 26 (bottom left) of Scandinavian Glass Fire & Sea by Leslie Pina for a vase with the same features but with 2 bulges instead of 1.

I doubt very much this is from Riihimaen Lasi.

Well, I don't have the book and I was going on an item by a previous poster on here a few years ago.  However, googling for Aseda I saw the one with the two "bulges" and others with the flared rim, so Aseda it is.  I really don't care who it's by, I just wanted to pin it down.

Many thanks

Santa

And if anyone is interested I just found this page about an Aseda exhibition featuring the work of Bo Borgstrom with tons of pictures.

You're most welcome.  I identified something else I have from that link, that I thought I didn't have a hope in hell of doing - so it's been a good day!
